Castle

Hike up to the castle and take a walk across the castle’s courtyard. The view of Lake Bled is certainly something you will never forget.

The hill rises magnificently 139 m high and offers splendid views for miles around. The castle can be accessed by taking the marked hiking trail or by taking the asphalt road down from the castle walls.

The Vintgar gorge

The 1.6 km long Vintgar gorge carves its way through the vertical rocks of the Hom and Bort hills and is graced by the Radovna with its waterfalls, pools and rapids. The educational trail leads you over wooden bridges and Žumr’s galleries, and ends with a bridge overlooking the mighty 13 m high Šum waterfall. The Bled’s Vintgar leaves an impression on every visitor. Its steep depths, vertical walls, rapid river beneath, vegetation and the largest waterfall in Slovenia are all intended to impress.

Straža

Straža is a smaller hill most suitable for a relaxing walk and summer sport activites. It’s one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the area that offers incredible views of the city of Bled, Lake Bled, the castle and the surrounding mountains.

During the summertime you can enjoy adrenaline drenched sledding or visit the Adventure Park. You can also take a relaxing walk through meadows and woods on the Rikli Fitness Trail.

Osojnica is one of the favourite viewpoints for photographers, so prepare for a stunning view.

This is an approximately 45 minute walk along the steep forest path leading to Mala Osojnica (685 m) and another 20 minute walk leading to the top of Velika Osojnica (756m). The ascent will reward you with the finest views of Lake Bled and its outlying areas, Karavanke mountains, Kamnik Alps and the Gorenjska plain. All the well-known panoramas of Bled have been shot from there for a reason.

Starting point:
Zaka (bay on the western side of Lake Bled – approx. 480 m). From Bled, we go towards Bohinj and at the junction to Vila Bled we turn right. We park in the parking lot at the Zaka campsite.

Description:
On the edge of the jade, A meadow on the southern part of the Zaka (very close to the lake) we follow the unmarked paths into the forest. After a few minutes of walking, we unite with a wider path, where we go to the right. Follow the paths along the forest to the clear valley, which we hold until our mark for Osojnica is leading us to the right. Soon we reach an exceptionally pleasant summit with a bench and a view of which it is not steam. From the top we descend back to the split path and follow the signs for Malo Osojnica. Also on the viewpoint at Mali Osojnica there is a place for rest, informative table and of course a view. The descent from Mali Osojnica directly to the lake is slightly more disturbing. It runs over a steeper slope, which can be quite wet in the winter. First of all, we are waiting for steep metal stairs (slippery due to water and foliage), then the path is protected by wooden fences. In the keys we descend to the houses at the lake. When we get to the road we go left and take a walk to Zaka along the marked footpath. Wooden “footbows” right next to the lake. If you have dizziness, I recommend descending the direction of ascent.

Ojstrica

A sharp-peaked mountain with a delicate panorama.

A 20 minute walk leads you to 611 m high hill of Ojstrica. The ascent along the forest path left of Camping Bled will take you to its peak which offers splendid views at the Camping, at Lake Bled and its surroundings.

Duration:

Zaka – Ojstrica: 20 min

Ojstrica – Mala Osojnica: 15 min

Mala Osojnica – Zaka: 25 min

Together: 1 h
